Job Description

Forhyre is currently looking for an ECMO Specialist – Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team. In this role, you’ll work within our dedicated perfusionist team, operating and maintaining ECMO equipment for patients requiring long-term pulmonary or cardiac support. This is a great opportunity to apply your expertise in critical care and make a direct impact on patient outcomes. You’ll work closely with an ECMO Physician and Supervisor, ensuring top-notch care for those in need of specialized support.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain ECMO equipment, ensuring functionality.
  • Monitor patient status and respond to emergencies during ECMO procedures.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to tailor care plans for patients.
  • Train and educate healthcare professionals on ECMO therapy.
  • Document care and ensure patient records are complete and accurate.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

Qualifications and Requirements

This position can be filled by either a Respiratory Therapist or a Registered Nurse:

Respiratory Therapist Requirements:

  • Graduate of a CoARC-approved program and hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Minimum one year of ICU experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • California Respiratory Therapist (LRT) license.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (required after orientation).

Registered Nurse Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited ACEN or CCNE nursing program (BSN preferred).
  • Minimum one year of ICU experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current RN license in California.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Additional Requirement:

All ECMO Specialists must maintain a PRN position in the ICU or Respiratory Department for at least one year.
