We’re Going to Win Captain Rohit Paudel Reacts to India’s Home Ground Offer

Captain Rohit Paudel recently revealed that during a high-level visit last week, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had promised to provide an Indian cricket ground to the Nepalese cricket team as their ‘home ground.’ The importance of this promise was emphasized at the meeting initiated by Minister Jaishankar, as shown in the hilarious pictures released during the meeting.

Expressing his happiness about the meeting, captain Rohit shared that Minister Jaishankar congratulated the team on their World Cup selection and discussed possible support from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in the future. Interestingly, Rohit revealed that similar to BCCI’s role in Afghanistan’s cricket progress, the home ground offer came unsolicited from Minister Jaishankar.

Although the exact location of the promised home ground is unknown, captain Rohit expressed optimism about the possible opportunity in the coming days. He underlined the potential impact on Nepali cricket by emphasizing the advantages of playing in diverse conditions and on different wickets.

Reflecting on Afghanistan’s cricket progress from home, Rohit hoped that Nepal could follow a similar path. Minister Jaishankar’s commitment to provide a home ground for Nepal aligns with the cooperative spirit witnessed during the joint meeting between Nepal and India.

Rohit, who took over the captaincy only 15 months ago, highlighted Nepal’s consistent performance, which retained its One Day International (ODI) status. The captain reiterated the team’s high morale and stressed their goal of winning the upcoming T20 World Cup. In June, Nepal will face the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Bangladesh.

Nepal’s journey in the T20 World Cup holds historical significance, repeating itself after a decade. Inspired by watching Nepal play in the T20 World Cup at ten, Rohit will take the team to the same level in 2024.

Recognizing the importance of mental and physical health, Rohit shared his commitment to a disciplined diet, avoiding popular Nepali favorites like momo and chowmin. He emphasized the team’s collective focus on maintaining a healthy diet, contributing to overall fitness.
