Supreme Court permission for Sandeep Lamichhane to go abroad

The Supreme Court has upheld the Patan High Court’s decision to release cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane on bail and made it more lenient. The Supreme Court has lifted the ban imposed by the High Court on him to going abroad.

The Attorney General’s Office appealed to the Supreme Court against the order of the High Court. Similarly, Lamichhane also filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding to be allowed to go abroad.

The joint bench of judges Sapna Pradhan Malla and Kumar Chudal, while hearing both petitions, allowed Lamichhane to go abroad. In the order of the Supreme Court, it is said that ‘if you have gone abroad, inform the district court in Kathmandu within 15 days of your return’.

Lamichhane filed a petition in the Supreme Court last Thursday to be allowed to play in the World Cup League-2 series. Nepal is playing two matches each against UAE and Papua New Guinea in the eighth series which started on Monday.

Lamichhane, accused of rape, was ordered to be released on a bail of 2 million rupees, and the High Court banned him from going abroad. The Supreme Court made the order of the High Court more relaxed.
