The ‘soft launch’ of Device Management System (MDMS) is going to be done next Friday.

The regulatory Nepal Telecommunication Authority has said that it is going to do this with the aim of stopping the illegal import of mobile phones in Nepal.  The government is going to bring this system to block mobile phones that are illegally imported by evading customs and smuggling.

In a program, the chairman of the authority, Purushottam Khanal, promised to start the MDMS system from August 30, except under any special circumstances.  In the conference held with the participation of Nepal Mobile Distributors Association and various other organizations, Deepak Malhotra, President of MPIA, stated that mobile phones are now being used as an essential commodity after hemp, cotton and cotton, and expressed regret that the government has recently banned the import of mobile phones as a luxury item.

At present, when commercial importers import mobile phones, IMEI registration has been arranged through the Mobile Device Management System, while the registration of individually imported mobile phones can be done through the authority’s website.

If this system is fully implemented, if someone’s mobile phone is lost or stolen, it can be disabled in Nepal.  Therefore, if someone has sent you a mobile phone from abroad as a gift, you can register it through this link.
