Scratch Instructor Job Description

Concorde Education is currently looking for a Scratch Instructor (Part-Time) to join their team. The instructor will play a key role in planning and leading collaborative coding sessions, utilizing block coding languages like Scratch. Under the supervision of the Director of Educational Development, the Scratch Instructor will work closely with students of various skill levels to develop their coding and computer science abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet regularly with the Director of Educational Development to discuss lesson plans and strategies.
  • Facilitate engaging learning sessions focused on Scratch and other block coding languages.
  • Assist students in developing critical computer science and coding skills.
  • Maintain open and consistent communication with the Director to ensure smooth program delivery.
  • Model appropriate academic and social behaviors during sessions.
  • Guide students on controlling robots such as Ozobot, Sphero, or drones using block coding.
  • Collect and analyze student data to improve instructional techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the program.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience in teaching and/or tutoring, particularly in coding and computer science.
  • Familiarity with Scratch or other block coding languages, or a willingness to learn.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
  • Organizational skills and a passion for education, with the flexibility to adapt to different learning styles.
  • Ability to instruct on block coding languages and robotics.
  • Self-motivated with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
