Job Description:

Long-term Teachers Ltd is currently looking for a passionate and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join one of Devon’s leading special schools. The school caters to students aged 3 to 19 with autism and complex needs, providing an engaging and supportive environment. The role will primarily involve working with students from EYFS to Year 6, helping to deliver whole-class cover and support the school’s adapted curriculum.

Responsibilities:

• Provide classroom cover during teacher absence or PPA cover.
• Assist in personalizing the curriculum to meet individual student needs.
• Support lesson planning and delivery with the classroom teacher.
• Implement school policies, particularly regarding student safeguarding.
• Foster a safe and engaging learning environment.
• Encourage student engagement and a love for learning through outdoor activities and diverse programs like the forest school, swimming pool, and bike trail.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Level 3 or 4 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of SEN and strategies for supporting students with complex needs.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping young people thrive.

Salary & Benefits

• Starting at £100 – £110 per day.
• Full-time role, Monday to Friday, 08:45 – 15:30, term-time only.
