What happens to a dead person’s Facebook?
Have you ever wondered what happens to the Facebook used by that person after he dies? Or who will run it?
Facebook treats its users as ‘memorable accounts’ after their death. That is, the deceased user’s account will be a remembered account. In such a situation, another user can find out by looking at his profile that that person is dead and that memorized account can also be written on the timeline by going to the tag or profile.
Once a Facebook account is a remembered account, the person’s profile name is shown as ‘remembered’.
It is up to you to decide what to do after your death or how to manage your Facebook. You can ‘memorialize’ or delete your Facebook account.
If you want to make your account memorable after death, you need to update ‘Legacy Contacts’ now. You may have a close friend or family member in the legacy contact. The person or user you keep in legacy contact may moderate your Facebook following your death.
How to choose a legacy contact?
1. After logging in to Facebook, go to its ‘Settings & Privacy.
2. Select the Settings option inside it.
3. Here you see two options. The first is ‘Memorization Settings’ and the second is ‘Deactivation and Delete’. Select the first option ‘Remember settings’.
4. Now you can see two options. ‘Select legacy contacts’ and ‘Delete after death’.
5. By selecting the ‘Select Legacy Contact’ option, you allow a user to take over your Facebook management after your death. Similarly, if you select the ‘Delete after death’ option, the account may be automatically deleted or deleted by anyone reporting the account after death.
The person you chose in Legacy Contacts can’t log into your Facebook, read messages, and make or delete new friends.
The legacy contact won’t even post a PIN to your Facebook timeline, see posts you’ve put in ‘Only Me’, choose who can post to your timeline, delete any tribute posts you’ve been tagged in Can remove tags, profiles, and covers from posted posts. Photo New account creation or deletion request.
