Sarita KC, 23, of Udayapur sells tea in the morning and goes to college in the afternoon. She has no shop, so she fills a thermos with milk and black tea and goes out to sell.
It has been a year since Sarita started selling tea like this. Sarita, who is graduating in politics from Trichandra College, saves Rs 100,000 by selling tea for Rs 250,000 a month.
Every day in the capital, she works hard for her and her brother’s education. Many Nepali youths see Sarita as an example and understand that work is not small or big, you should not be ashamed to work hard.
People in and around Asan call her ‘Sundari Chiawali’. Tea drinkers often praise her.
Sarita, who came to Kathmandu four years ago, studied for a few years at the expense of her family. Sarita realized that her family was struggling financially to educate herself and her brother.
She started selling tea to support herself and her brother’s schooling and to support a struggling family. Earlier, she had seen other tea vendors walking around Asan.
Many people perceive her tea to be sweet. She had earned 400 rupees in the first few weeks by selling 400 cups of tea in one day.
