 iPhone banned in Colombia

A Colombian court has ruled in favor of Ericsson in a 5G patent dispute. The company sued Apple, so the decision banned the import, sale, and advertising of 5G-enabled iPhones and iPads in the country.

The ban was imposed after a Bogota judge ruled that the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and other 5G-enabled iPads infringed on Ericsson’s patents for fifth-generation technology.

Apple has already filed an appeal and wants to challenge the decision. However, companies are prohibited from “importing, selling, commercializing and advertising” patent infringing products.

Currently, it is not known Whether Ericsson will score comparable victories in other nations. If that happens, it could be a significant blow to Apple and force the company to make a deal with Ericsson.
