Chief Electro-Technical Officer Responsibilities:
- Organize and perform maintenance and repairs for the engine room or hotel areas.
- Consult regularly with the 1st Electro-Technical Officer on maintenance procedures.
- Monitor, control, and troubleshoot all electrical equipment and systems machinery.
- Report all electrical equipment damage or malfunction immediately.
- Assign daily maintenance and repair duties to junior members of the electrical department.
- Supervise team members in performing maintenance duties.
- Main Engines: Routine safety shutdown tests
- Safety Systems: Fire detection, ESD, WTD, lifeboats, etc.
- Elevators: Weekly safety checks
- Engine Auxiliary Systems: Purifiers, temperature control valves, etc.
- Engine Room General Systems: Wastewater treatment systems, evaporators, etc.
- General Hotel Systems: Automatic doors
- Passenger/Crew Accommodation: Cabin automation
- Bridge Systems: Collaboration with the 1st Electro-Technical Officer
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Certificate of Competence III/6 ETO.
- Meet health and physical requirements of the Flag State of the ship.
- Strong supervisory skills to manage workload and priorities.
- Problem-solving and collaborative teamwork mindset.
- Ability to work under sustained pressure and manage crises effectively.
- Good interpersonal and public relations skills with guests.
- Compliance with STCW 95 certification and Flag State requirements.
- Possession of a valid Panama Seaman’s Book.
