The American multinational information technology company ‘Google’ has released its first smartwatch.

The company has announced ‘Google Pixel Watch’ as ​​its first smartwatch at an event held in California.This Google smartwatch has a circular design. Its length-width is 41 mm and thickness is 12.3 mm. This watch runs on Google’s ‘Android Wear OS- 3.5 (Operating System)’. Corning Gorilla Glass-5 is used in this watch with a 1.2-inch display. Being ‘water-proof’ and ‘scratch-proof’, it will not get damaged or scratched by water.

Similarly, the frame around it is made of steel. It is designed so that it does not get stuck on the sleeves of clothes. It weighs only 36 grams without the watch band. According to the company, this watch has health and fitness tracking features. For this, the company has placed the ‘Fitbit’ app on the Pixel Watch. Electronics and fitness company Fitbit was bought by Google’s parent company Alphabet just last year.

By connecting with the Fitbit app, you can use features like heart rate and sleep tracking. It even suggests which exercises are best as it keeps a continuous heart rate tracking. It also has ECG app and SOS feature to be contacted in case of emergency.

The company has kept its four-year-old chipset in it. This chipset was also in Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 3.

The Pixel Watch has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It houses a Cortex M33 co-processor. As it runs on Wear OS, it can easily run other Google apps like Google Photos, Google Maps, Google Assistant. It also has a Google Home app that lets you control smart home appliances from your watch.

The company claims that this watch with a 294 mAh lithium ion battery can last for a day on a single full charge. According to the company, it gives an indication when the battery is very low. It charges 50 percent in half an hour and takes 80 minutes to fully charge.

This watch with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and loudspeaker has no earphone and USB port and no radio. This watch works on phones with Android 8 or later OS. You don’t need a Google Pixel phone.

Currently, the company has brought this watch in three colors namely matte black (black), polished silver (silver) and champagne gold (golden). There are about 20 types of its ribbons.

The Pixel Watch Bluetooth and Wi-Fi model is priced at US$349.99 (about Rs. 46,000 today). 

Similarly, the model with 4-G and Bluetooth/WiFi costs 399.99 dollars (about 53 thousand rupees).

If it comes to the Nepali market, this price may be a little higher.
