birl Batuwa large Kasdari is the first record for the valley in the Manohara Khola area of Kathmandu Valley.
Frank Yam Welli’s team of wildlife photographers and nature lovers Sanjay Tha Shrestha, Yubin Shrestha and Deepak Budhathoki met yesterday with the photos during the sighting of this bird, which was first recorded for Nepal in Morang district in February 1938.
Seen as a migratory species until 2016, this Kasdari has been recorded once in Nepalganj and most of the records have been made in the core area and intermediate area of Chitwan National Park.
Similarly, the endangered birds of Nepal found in Koshi Word Observatory and Prakashpur area have been mentioned in the red book.
In Nepal, this species is found from 75 to 250 meters above sea level and was recorded for the first time at 1360 meters. This species is under threat due to the fragmentation, degradation, and illegal poaching of wetlands.
